For 38 years, Andy Hudak was a fixture in the press box alongside his classmate and dear friend, Wally Mieskoski. Today, we learned of Andy’s passing, and he will be truly missed. Earlier this season, we had the honor of recognizing Andy for his many years of dedication and service to the Bengals Football Program. His commitment, friendship, and presence will forever be part of our program’s legacy.
Here is a look back on that special night:
After 38 years as one-half of the Bengals football stats team, Andy is officially hanging up his pen and paper.

Andy joined the stats team in 1987 and has been faithfully tracking every play ever since—missing fewer games than you can count on one hand.
We also want to recognize and deeply thank Judy for allowing Andy to “come out and play” with the rest of us on Friday and Saturday nights each fall. Judy has been a true Benedictine team player, supporting her husband’s passion and adjusting the family calendar around the Bengals football schedule. We offer our most sincere and heartfelt thank you to her.
Andy has been an unsung hero of the Benedictine football program and its history. For 38 years, he has compiled, tabulated, and audited every yard gained, every touchdown scored, and every record broken. Of course, being a Certified Public Accountant didn’t hurt!
And he’s done it his way—the old-fashioned way—using only a pen and paper. Why? Because not every high school press box has cutting-edge technology. And because, as Andy would say, the old reliable pen and paper have never let him down.
Andy often says he’ll remember the many winning seasons and the thrill of those state titles—but we’ll remember him for his professionalism, precision, and humor.
He has worked under deadline pressure to make sure the newspapers got the stats in time for their print editions. He’s kept his cool under the watchful eye of an impatient stadium worker eager to lock up and go home. And through it all, he’s kept the press box loose with his quick wit and thoughtful observations.
Andy never let down the Bengals' stats team. His longtime partner, Wally Mieskoski, wishes they could’ve worked together for another 38 years. The entire press box crew will miss his presence and camaraderie—and we want him to know he’s always welcome back.
Andy, this isn’t the end of your Benedictine story—it’s just the start of a new chapter in your Bengals alumni life.
You have always been a professional.
Always a gentleman.
Always a Man of Benedictine.
Always a gentleman.
Always a Man of Benedictine.
Ladies and gentlemen, in appreciation of his 38 years of service, please rise and give Andy Hudak a well-deserved standing ovation.
Thank you, Andy.
