Benedictine Wrestling advances 9 to Districts and finishes 2nd overall at Sectionals

At St. Vincent-St. MarybHigh School, the Bengals had a strong showing and finished 2nd out of 16 teams, only behind SVSM. Senior John Jones ’26 was Sectional Champ at 150 lbs after defeating his opponent from Akron Buchtel.

John Paul Hatgas ’27 (126 lbs), Devion Coffin ’26 (132 lbs), Jayzahn Jones ’27 (138 lbs), and Shepard Charlton ’26 (285 lbs) all finished 2nd at Sectionals. Joey Paletta ’27 (144 lbs) and Gabe Dolan ’27 (157 lbs) both finished in 3rd place. Kyle Mcneely ’29 (107 lbs) and Jordan Huff ’29 (113 lbs) both finished 4th and advanced to Districts next Saturday.

LJ Mayes ’29 (120 lbs), Sonny Graham ’28 (165 lbs), and Antonio Carr ‘28 (190 lbs) all won their final matches of the day, finishing 5th as first alternates to Districts and securing crucial team points for the Bengals. Z’Aaron Ladson ’27 (175 lbs) went 1-2 on the day and earned points for his team as well.
