Cheeks named D2 Wrestling COY

Congratulations to Terrence Cheeks on being named the 2026 Division II Greater Cleveland Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (GCWCOA) Coach of the Year!

This season, Coach Cheeks led a young Bengals squad to impressive success both on and off the mat. Under his guidance, Benedictine qualified four wrestlers for the State Championships in Columbus. Devion Coffin earned a 7th-place finish, while John Paul Hatgas placed 8th, both reaching the podium. Shepard Charlton and John Jones Jr. also proudly represented the Bengals at the state level.

Coach Cheeks will be formally recognized at the GCWCOA Awards Banquet later this week—a well-deserved honor for an outstanding season and continued commitment to excellence.
