Benedictine High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Strength and Conditioning Coach to help develop our student-athletes both physically and mentally. This position will play a vital role in building a culture of discipline, accountability, and excellence while enhancing athletic performance across all sports programs. We are looking for a leader who is committed to positively impacting young men on and off the field of competition.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Implementation
- Design and implement comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to each sport and individual athlete's needs.
- Monitor and adjust programs based on progress, performance, and feedback.
- Incorporate the latest research and methodologies in strength and conditioning to ensure effective and innovative training.
2. Athlete Training and Supervision
- Provide hands-on coaching and supervision during training sessions.
- Instruct athletes on proper lifting techniques, conditioning drills, and recovery protocols.
- Ensure all training activities are conducted safely and effectively, minimizing the risk of injury.
3. Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with head coaches, athletic trainers, and medical staff to integrate strength and conditioning programs with overall team strategies and individual athlete care plans.
- Communicate regularly with athletes and coaches about progress, goals, and any strength-and-conditioning-related issues.
4. Education and Motivation
- Educate athletes on the importance of strength and conditioning, nutrition, and overall fitness.
- Motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their fitness and performance goals.
- Promote a positive and disciplined training environment.
5. Facility and Equipment Management
- Maintain the strength and conditioning facilities and equipment, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized environment.
- Oversee the maintenance and procurement of equipment as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
Certification: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NSCA, NASM).
Experience: Previous experience as a strength and conditioning coach, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of strength and conditioning principles, techniques, and programming.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and work effectively with young athletes.
- Organizational and time management skills.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a dynamic and physically active environment.
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
